I betcha whoever designed it never read the book. Anne's hair colour is mentioned a billion times in it.

To the extent that at least one international version (Korean) is titled Read-Headed Anne.

What the hell? You'd think if nothing else they'd use the picture of Megan Fallows rather than some random blond girl. How did this get not only selected but through any sort of editing process?

But if they used the Megan Follows picture, they'd have to pay someone. Much easier to just rip off a quick stock photo ten seconds before it's due at the press.

The name of the anime series has been translated to the equivalent of "Anne with the red hair" in Germany. I want them to use that book cover and enjoy the resulting fireworks. XD

What is the logic behind this? It's not as though the young girls who read these books are going to want a really sexy cover.

The hair colour kills me. :/

Actually I've been thinking and I believe what we have here is indeed not Anne as-is, but Anne's ideal version of herself. Cordelia, if you will. Of course, the puffed sleeves are missing, but there's only so much you can do with stock images.
